Yes, these facilities have strict, established protocols and are controlled environments. You will work with a team of other medical professionals, correctional officers, and facility administration to ensure your safety while providing appropriate patient care.
Clinically, your work will be similar, but there are many positive things that are different from working in bedside nursing. As a corrections professional, your work will be more structured, and you will have the ability to make decisions independently. You will also get to provide care to an underserved population and have less visitor and family interaction at the facility.
Your recruiter will stay in touch during the entire process. You can reach out to them with any questions, and they’ll help you navigate any situations that come up during your time working for us.
Some facilities will allow this, but at Pine Health, our clients prefer 1-2 years of experience.
Patients in a correctional facility are often diverse and underserved. You will care for patients with chronic conditions, behavioral health issues, acute and urgent care concerns, and screening and preventative care needs.
